How to get to the top of Google in under 60 seconds

To do this you first need a Twitter account.

Here is the method:

1. Choose the keyword/s you want to be top of Google for. It doesn’t matter how competitive the keyword/s are – this method will get you to the top (eg youth marketing)

2. Post an update on Twitter featuring your keyword/s (eg “Sign up for the Reach Students youth marketing e-newsletter here:? http://www.reachstudents.co.uk

3. Go to Google.com and enter your keyword. When the results appear, click open the ‘plus’ sign and choose Updates.

And there you are – at the very top of Google.

Online marketing is easy when you listen to The Wise Owl ;-) .

  1. Wow! This works, now tell me how to get to the top of organic searches this easily.

  2. Doesn’t this only get you to the top of Google on your own computer? Like if you click the ‘up’ arrow on your own computer, it remembers you and keeps whatever link you’ve clicked ‘up’ at the top of the page?

  3. Hi Scar – no, it works across the board. For instance, I see you are currently ranking number 3 in Google Updates for the term ‘speak Dutch’ based on your last tweet.

The post was partly tongue-in-cheek, but also partly to highlight the changes in the way people search and how you can very quickly – though perhaps fleetingly in many cases – reach the summit of Google for those using the Updates filter.

    Cheers,

  4. i dont understand i put in google .com my key word once i posted it on twitter but i cant find the Plus Key u talk about !!to make this work

  5. Thanks Steve. That’s because Google has changed its menu options since this was written. Instead select ‘more’ and ‘updates’ to see the live stream from Twitter as an integrated part of Google Search.
