US youth and cool brands: recent polling
Posted on August 10, 2009 by Luke

Seth Lieberman of Pangea Media, a casual entertainment and online advertising company that operates a network of sites including Quibblo and QuizRocket, has posted details of some polling Quibblo did recently around the subject of youth and ‘cool brands’.
Here is some of what young people predominantly in the US said:
26% said they see an ad when using a search engine;
24% said they learn about new brands on the social networking sites, Facebook or MySpace;
77% rely the most on friends to find out about new brands, followed by seeing new brands in a store (71%) or on a TV commercial (51%);
71% said that they are not “fans” of a brand on a social networking site.
The article includes more findings that may be of interest, including favourite sports brands, attitudes to labels on clothes, preferred tech brands and whether this audience is “mac or PC”.
There’s also results of a food’n'drink brand fight-off between Coke, Pepsi, Starbucks, Dunkin’ Donuts, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Burger King and Wendy’s.
