The WDA, an agency of the Welsh Government Assembly, has a remit to encourage and improve the economic success of Wales.

It identified a range of specific audience groups that it wanted to target with its messages about starting a new business in Wales, and one of those groups was students.

This was an audience that the WDA had no experience of communicating with and Reach Students was asked to advise on and research a range of issues, from creative approach and implementation strategy, to stakeholder politics and the demographic profile of the Welsh FE and HE cohort.

Our work included conducting interviews with relevant keyholders, experienced local marketers and student media owners. We created a comprehensive marketing strategy document that provided the WDA with a complete overview of their situation and all options going forward.

The WDA normally commissions from a roster of approved agencies but, such was the specialised nature of this work, Reach Students – the only independent student marketing consultancy in the UK – was considered a worthwhile exception.
